Back to the Grind This was definitely an ol' school poetry reading, the kind I've always imagined the Beats having back in the day when the FBI considered them the third biggest threat to America's security. We were in a dimly lit basement/art gallery beneath an extremely large coffee house. Everyone was sitting on the floor, huddled in groups, listening intently to the words of the poets. There was no host and they didn't need one. The microphone was beckoning them to speak. And they did. Very, very cool.
Go check it out. It doesn't take that long to get to Riverside (it's late enough, so there is no traffic).
